The "falling" part of the thing I saw today (12/7/2019 @ approx. 12:25 AM) appeared to be a lopsided rectangle and appeared fairly large in the dark sky; as it came straight down, there was a fiery green broken trail above it as it fell; it was the color green you might see in a gas flame, but very concentrated in that irregular rectangle shape and flashy-bright, and it's "tail" was broken and fleeting; then almost as soon as it appeared, it vanished. I waited to listen for any repercussion, but there was none that I could tell. My back street (Ave A) where I was standing at the time (taking out the garbage) is nearby an expressway so there is always rushing traffic noise too, so maybe there was a sound, but it could have been drowned out by the all-hours traffic.
Also, I saw a bright orange/red one back around 2006 as I was driving westward toward Henrietta, TX late at night and it did the same straight-downward falling thing with a broken orangey-red tail behind that one, only the "meteor(?)" part of it was larger and more rounded to my perspective then and it appeared to be falling much closer to me that this green one I saw tonight. In fact, the 2006 sighting appeared as though it might fall very near the road I was driving on, and by the time I got to a certain curve in that highway, it did come down to the left of the highway, but like the green one tonight, it just disappeared.
These are the only two instances when I have seen this type of phenomenon.
