Remarks Loudest explosion I've ever heard, probably because it was high in the air and not at ground or near ground level. I was about 400 feet above sea level on a cliff above the Golden Gate & the report carried for a very longer way - I could hear it decaying for nearly a minute.

Remarks See above. For some reason I turned to look in the direction where the fireball appeared just as it streaked through the sky, and seconds later the explosion was heard.
