I have never seen anything like this before. Initially, I thought it was a firework but the way it moved was not artificial like a rocket or firework. It was extremely slow moving (another reason I initially thought it more likely to be a firework) but had a consistent flickering glow and a tail behind it. Then a large, glowing, yellowish white ball that seemed to quickly ignite, burn for a second or two and then just disappeared. It is a full moon tonight (as I’m sure you know) and my eyes were adjusted, as I had been walking on the beach for an hour before it happened and I had no flashlight and had not looked at my cellphone while walking. It wasn’t as bright as the full moon but it was 100% one of the brightest things i have seen in the sky. I often stargaze and walk very late at night, but again, have not seen something like this before. It was not as bright as a half moon, but it was much brighter than any star I have ever seen. I’d compare it to a regular star such as Sirius or Polaris being a poppy seed and this thing I saw being a large grape or marble. I only stumbled across this website and reporting method after trying to research what I had seen. Please contact me with any questions. I’d be happy to answer any of them, also, thank you for the information on your website explaining what I had seen. |
