I stood still in the street (it is currently blocked off to traffic due to local construction) and continued watching the southern sky. I have seen fireballs (rarely) but never one that was this bright and lasting this long. The sky was still fairly light in the west. A few minutes later a young man passed by and I asked him if he had seen it also. He had and was equally impressed/amazed. Our town has a dark sky initiative.
