It was a mostly white looking line behind it but it appeared the be the same as the white that was around the red object in the front that got thinner the farther away it was. It faded away within a couple of seconds.

I thought that it was a lightning flash because the entire sky flashed white and then i saw what i thought was a meteor but I have never been able to see what looked like an object that was red and what looked like a fire trail behind it. It lasted only a couple of seconds and faded away.
