Reports Report 5808a (Event 5808-2020)

Observer
Name Matt D
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks I was hesitant to report this, since I was not able to actually see the "fireball". Sky conditions were broken clouds, perhaps 6/8. I was having no trouble making out Pleides / Orion, etc.Due to the layout of the land I was actually looking down (below level) at the fields across the street, so resultng smoke trail was a good 90 degrees above where I was looking at the time. The whole area was suddenly and briefly lit up by a brilliant flash; when I looked up I could see the smoke trail between the clouds, oriented in rougly north-south direction, fading slowly. A jet had just gone overhead (perpendicular to smoke trail) a minute or so before and no contrails were visible, not that I would expect any with no moon or sun yet, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't that.
