I watched this for almost five seconds and it was still going strong when it went behind the ridge. It was very large and it caught my peripherals out of our large windows. We have a view over the valley facing a ridge. I wondered if perhaps it was some falling space junk or something.

It didn't die out, it disappeared over the ridge. It was heading down at steep arc. The ball was pronounced and the tail was like large silver sparkles that lasted 1-2 seconds - a clear teardrop shape...
