Remarks | I only knew this to be a meteor because I’ve been lucky enough to witness one many years before around 1994. At that time, I thought what I was observing was a small plane on fire crash landing and it looked to be in the local vicinity (just south of Annapolis, Maryland). I found out a few days later from newspaper reports that it was a meteor that broke up as it reached the atmosphere but pieces landed in New York City. What I saw 2 nights ago was almost identical. Both times I was lucky to be traveling at night on a dark rural road and able to slow down to fully observe. What a treat! |
