I was startled. I was just walking my dog in the early hours up the lane. It gave me a fright. It moved silently in front of me, almost just above the Kirk. It had a round white/yellow/orange front to it with a long line of orange/yellow behind it. It was the silence and the quiet movement across the sky, right in front of me that frightened me a little. I didn’t know what I had seen. I googled images and found the exact image of what I’d seen, the image I have just described. Later I remembered that a couple of weeks before I picked up a strange piece of nobbly black rock with speckles on it on the grass only yards from where I saw this fireball drift across the sky. I wondered if the two things were connected and there had been a previous meteorite in the same area. I’ve never experienced this before but really glad that I was out in the early hours that night. Strangely it was the night before I was moving to my new home in England. I was a little shaken up when I saw it, but now really glad I experienced it. It really was low in the sky. My calculations won’t be accurate. I would find it easier to point at the sky and show the direction. It headed from left to right and seemed to drift across the top of the Kirk. I can send a photo of the piece of rock I found if you wish. I might be wrong but I thought it was different. Again, I was walking my dog in the same area. |
