| Remarks | I observed the meteor/air burst travelling as a supernumerary on the cargo vessel NYK Galaxy [IMO 9326756] en route from Tauranga, New Zealand to Tokyo, Japan. I was on the navigation bridge with the First Officer to view the GPS display as our vessel crossed the equator. Mere seconds after the crossing of the equator, the meteor/air burst was observed as a bright flash low on the horizon forward of the vessel. |
