The object appeared to be heading directly toward my vantage point which was roughly passing through the town of Maysville NC. It seemed to disappear completely all at once followed by a bright flash of light.

I was watching the object coming straight toward me, bigger and brighter than Venus or any air craft, when it disappeared completely followed seconds later or less by a bright flash of light that lit up everything around.
