Remarks | Brightness: I am not used to giving brightness estimates for objects brighter than Venus, but I would estimate it as magnitude -6 to -5. Observations: The fireball started between Cetus and Aires (about half-way between Alpha Arietis and Mu Ceti) and ended in Pisces (near Omicron Piscium). It was a clear Moonless night, with no cloud cover. The meteor went from East to West at an estimated altitude of 30 degrees above the south-eastern horizon. The fireball was blue in colour and did not break up during its entry. There was a brief afterglow, that lasted about 1.5 seconds. |
