It was like nothing I've ever seen before and was over (more accurately, obscured by a neighbour's property) very quickly. I was having a cig in my back garden and just happened to look in the right direction at the right time. I sometimes gaze at the stars in similar circumstances but tonight I wasn't particularly looking towards the horizon / sky just prior to getting my lucky glance of it. I gazed in the same area for a while after but there were no noticeable repeat events like it.
