Remarks A couple of minutes after the sounds I saw what looked like a dust cloud rising slightly above the hill to the north-east (slightly down Coast Road from the Golf Club) - the following is the region I was looking when I saw the dust cloud: https://www.google.com/maps/@-41.3112777,174.9504242,2574m/data=!3m1!1e3 Note: I did not see the meteor in the sky - I only heard the sounds and then saw a dust cloud (in the direction of the Rimutaka State Forest) that might be related.
