I have seen regular meteor showers with quick shooting stars before and this was unlike anything I had seen before. I was up late taking photos of the stars, specifically Orion and the star Sirius and right as I was snapping the flash occurred and my photo caught the streak flashing behind above and behind the tree.

The head of the flash got larger than the thin streak of a trail that followed. The flash was really bright and made me curse because it was so shocking!
