I’ve never seen something with such a long trail of light left across the sky. The intensity of light makes me think it was not farther than a few hundred miles. No experience so no reference for that thought.

Remarks
Went about 25 degrees. Trail and light from it stopped with previous trail still visible momentarily. Started up again at 39 degrees. Went 5 more degrees. It drew a bright line coming straight down toward horizon, stopped then was visible very quickly again until gone.
