Reports Report 3283oj (Event 3283-2023)

Observer
Name Nicole S
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks This is now the 4th fireball I have seen in the past year! 😃🤔 I find this very surprising and intriguing since I had never seen one in my life until last fall (2022), even though I've spent A LOT of time looking up in the sky and have seen countless "shooting stars" and other phenomena throughout my life. I am a night owl - a lover of the night sky, always looking up (telescope or no), so I've got a very sound idea of what I'm looking at. This was a very large, bright, beautiful fireball, primarily florescent green with some bright blue, with white tail lingering for a few seconds aftwr terminal flash. MUCH larger and brighter and more colorful than a shooting star - fireballs are BEAUTIFUL! 🤩

Concurrent Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks Barely audible "boof" sound, almost like a VERY deep/low "pop". If I remember correctly, the sound came right about when the light of the fireball itself (briefly) brightened intensely, then faded out quickly, leaving only the white tail, which immediately began to dissipate. I believe the sound occurred about a half of a second (.5 sec.) after the brightening/flash of the fireball, but definitely before the ball lost its luminosity.
Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks As above, it was barely audible "boof" sound, occurring about a half second after the brightening of the fireball, but before the luminosity of the ball itself dissipated
Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 2s
Length -
Remarks Glowing white, maybe a bit of sharp edges initially, but became fuzzy & dissipated fairly quickly
