I just happened to be looking up at the supermoon with my new binoculars. The fireball wasnt in that direction as the moon, but I was taking pictures of the moon before I saw something bright in the corner of my eye. I had never seen anything like that before. It looked like a big fireball - probably not that big, but big enough to where I could see flames, or what looked like “sparks”. For a second, I thought it was a firework, but I didn’t hear booms and it looked very parallel coming towards ground. I don’t think a firework would be that big, either, or it just didn’t look like a firework I’ve seen.
I might be exaggerating the time, I don’t know. I know from the time I noticed it, the fireball lasted enough time for me to freeze up for a second, realizing that it was weird, contemplate a brief second before realizing what it was, try to quickly grab my phone that was mounted, and looked back up to see it fizzle out. I’m certain that I “heard” the fizzle, but I don’t know if that was in my head (is it possible for us to hear that?). Right before it fizzled, it got really bright, like a flash, and I didn’t hear anything after so I don’t think it landed. What is really getting me is how close it was. I’m very unsure if only my area could see it, or if anyone else in Cincinnati outside my area (I’m in the Northside neighborhood of Cincy) could also see it. I asked my local group to see if anyone else could see it, but I haven’t gotten a lot of responses yet. This was all seen with my naked eye. Please let me know if there’s any other info I could provide. I really wish I got a picture, but it was so quick (maybe if I didn’t freeze up!). The colors were mostly light yellow, a hint of blue and a hint of orange around the object. |
