Reports Report 6774bj (Event 6774-2023)

Observer
Name Carol A
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks I do a bit of stargazing with binoculars and wildlife watching telescope so have seen shooting stars and meteor showers, and comets when media promote in advance. Have never seen anything like this, colours and brightness was amazing/ frightening I wondered if it was a horizontal firework but there was no noise, no noticeable scent or smoke trail plus the way it was coming horizontally across the moor beside the loch and was so fast. Whatever it was it was amazing and frightening in equal measures, intrigued to know what it was as it was so close.

Remarks Bright white with yellow centre to main object with sparkiness coming from front, the trail behind looked like a firework but there was no noise, it was a long white trail with turquoise blue, maybe some green but definitely a bright purple and some of the sparkiness looked like lumps breaking off then developed their own colour changing trails/ tails before they also disappeared. It appeared to be coming horizontally at a fast speed, faster than a tracer in gunfire on a movie and the sky lit up v brightly as it passed over me, it felt like it was literally coming down/ broke up over the comfier woodland that extended up the hillside beside me.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks It was like magnesium explosion that I saw in science lab at school. Super bright white with a white / yellow glow and sputtering white fragments off front being thrown to back and sides.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks The fragments developed their own turquoise blue and purple mini trails and spiralled backwards off the main object. It felt the it broke up in a flurry in the last 3 seconds with bits until the front piece looked like it just sniffed out/ vaporised but I don’t know if that was possible. I did hear blackbirds alarm call in the woodland in front of me as it did appear to literally burn out about 300 - 500 meters away from me
