Remarks We were not looking for anything in the sky. We look south west through our living room window and we noticed the object because it was getting dark and it stood out against the darkening sky, The object moved so quickly that it was impossible to get a photo, we just had time for our brains to register that we had seen a ball of light. I asked our neighbours if they had seen anything, no one had seen it but one neighbour said she had seen a newspaper article about it. Given the direction of travel, we were sure that it was travelling west, and my husband, an amateur astronomer thought it was low enough to hit the earth somewhere to the west of us, the newspaper reported it landing on the island of Gigha off the west coast of Scotland, which is consistent with our view of it.
