| Remarks | Greetings! Last evening at approximately 7:40 pm I was driving west on CT Route 9 and observed a meteor dropping vertically towards the earth at very high speed. It was round shape, bright white in color, and had no contrail at all. This object must have generated a sonic boom, and have struck the earth's surface as it disappeared below the horizon still intact. It is impossible to estimate where it was, but best guess is somewhere 50 to 200 miles west of my location, which would put the strike from western Connecticut, Hudson Valley region New York into eastern Pennsylvania. Have you received any other reports of this meteor from the region? I'm interested in finding out. Thank you Steve Lewis |
