Based on the location in the sky and the angle of impact I am not sure this was from the Geminids meteor shower.

I was viewing the Geminids, meteor shower looking more overhead when I saw the initial bright flash lower on the horizon. I did not notice any streaking prior to the flash. Just impact followed by a significant orange ball of fragmentation.

Immediately after the flash there was a significant orange ball with visible fragments move relatively slow in a nearly vertical direction. Glow lasted for approximately 2 seconds but did not continue to the ground.
