I've lived in the mountains of the pacific northwest and spent many nights star gazing. I've never seen anything like this, like I said it was so large it startled me and caused an adrenal rush. It was friggen awesome to say the least.

Remarks
At the end of the trail it got real bright it happened so fast the color just kind of expanded and got brighter then poofed seemingly out of existence. The thick trail remained for about a second after. I've seen some bright shooting stars many times but this was much larger and looked like a fire opened in the sky. So much so that it startled me when it happened.
