Reports Report 3148d (Event 3148-2024)

Observer
Name Rina W
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks After being able to properly identify and put a name to the Fireballs, it would seem that I have seen atleast 3 or 4 so far this year, alongside all the other wonders our sky has to offer. The one we saw tonight, was bright white and from our angle standing on the ground, it didn't look huge (like the moon for example) as such, but was much bigger than the stars we were already looking at. Hence the random location, as we were headed back home and in the darker area, that leads from Walton Lake/ Ouzel Valley Route (by the bridge that sits over the Grand Union Canal) to Netherfield, but is also behind the houses in Tinkers Bridge and Passmore. We were stood on the path as shown on the map, but facing in the direction of the houses towards Colne, Tinkers bridge, but looking up at the sky. When it came into our field of vision, as said it wasn't as huge as the moon, but certainly distinctly different to the rest of the sky and stars. Also it seemed like it was quite close/ low down from the angle rather than "really high up in the sky" if that makes sense.

Delayed Sound

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 10s
Length 10°
Remarks As it came into our field of vision, it went from our right to left across the sky, just slightly angled upwards from a horizontal angle. A bright white light with a small glowing train/tail that faded out.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks The bright white beamed across the sky getting brighter as it went and finished with a final "big glow" before then disappearing.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks As it finished with the "big glow" there was light yellow/orange "sparkles/ fizzles" around and behind it. As the final bright glow was half way "dimmed", a smaller fragment was seen to glow diagonally in front and above the main bright light, which was also bright white with a "rusty orange" outer glow around it, and they both then vanished at the same time. (From our perspective). [apologies for the descriptions I've used, but hopefully it all makes sense]
