This was an amazing phenomena to watch. It occurred while we were walking the dog. We saw it coming over our neighbor's house as we walked outside and watched during our walk a block up the street. First time we've seen anything like this.

Remarks
The smoke trail was very large in the shape of a V behind the light. It extended a very long distances behind the light and faded slowly. The smoke trail was visible for at least 3 minutes after the light disappeared below the horizon.
