| Remarks | I was packing up my telescope after an outreach event. I was standing at my table facing SW. My table completely illuminated in a greenish light (so the source was in front of me and to the west). Thinking it was headlights at first I did not look up. Then realizing the angle, I looked up after a couple bright flashes. I could see the ending of the fireball as it passed from western Bootes (on a line from Izar) to where it went dark just above Megrez in Ursa Major. Based on this, it must have originated, from my location, in Serpens Caput or Ophiuchus, passed through Bootes and ended in Ursa Major. Color included white, orange and green. There was a visible smoke trail briefly remaining after the light went out. After about 90 seconds, I heard a loud boom. |
