Remarks Incredible meteor. Looking at the moon to the East Southeast, I noticed a bright "planet", but there shouldn't be one there, it was brighter than Venus. But I was surprised as there should be no planet there, then I noticed it moving and then the tail began to appear. It passed about 80 degrees overhead and continued until it disappeared, intact, on the opposite horizon heading West Northwest towards Seattle. Originally being from the South--used to counting second upon seeing lightning to estimate the distance--I started counting, 19 seconds until it disappeared, still going strong. This was by far the most phenomenal meteor I've ever seen. The trail was very long, approximately 30 degrees of arc when directly overhead, and pure brilliant white. I never saw any secondary detachments. It started dimming only because of the atmosphere looking towards the horizon--it was still quite a "large" meteor when it went below my visible horizon. Stunning.
