Reports Report 13a (Event 13-1998)

Observer
Name Graeme M
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks NOTE I have been deliberately nonspecific of the exact landing site as its on private property. I have also been deliberately nonspecifiic on date and time. The map image is within ~4km of where I observed it landing. I was also very excited at the time and VERY P**sed off with the reaction I got when I reported it to the WA Museum. They simply were dismissive. At times when a recent incident is reported and the media and scientific community get all excited it reminds me of my experience. I also called on talk back radio with no reaction or interest. This will be my last attempt ever to report it. NOTE it sped past in front of me like an incredibly super fast low flying military jet. It was black and a little fuzzy around itself. At that time it was perhaps 50m or less in the air. I saw and heard it land no more than 100m from me. There were two flocks of ground feeding birds nearby. The flock closest to me were not startled, the other flock were alarmed and took off as it landed basically amongst them with a sort of "splat" as it entered the earth. This was soft ground and despite several family and friends walking a mapped out grid we could not find it. The ground was very soft and boggy, it would have penetrated the surface and the surface closed over immediately. It was physically intact at landing and definately made the impact sound. The was never at any stage a fireball around it. Simply a black object with a sort of fuzzy surrounds with an unbelievable jet engine roaring sound. I can show you an area less in size than an AFL football field and probably down to a tennis court size...the damn thing could easily have hit me! Its up to you, if you're interested then contact me and follow up and I will take you to the exact spot. If not the info will die with me
