Reports Report 3049al (Event 3049-2025)

Observer
Name Riley W
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I've seen meteor showers before but I've never seen something that's broken the atmosphere be so close to me. Having not seen a meteor before, it was absolutely freaking massive. I would say that it was almost as bright as a burning magnesium, But I was still able to keep looking at it for as long as it was in my field of view. It left me with some solar retinopathy/and after image for a few seconds.

Remarks I heard/felt a really really weird and faint"humming". It sort of sounded electric, similar to mains humming in houses and the noises power lines make, but much much much MUCH lower pitched. It sounded like/felt almost just like those barely audible, sort of rumbly infrasounds that are used in horror movies, the ones that make people scared. As I ran through my front yard to try and watch the meteor more and keep it in my field of view, I got a horrible feeling of unease and slight fear, as if prey instincts were being triggered in me. This is I think the single coolest thing that has ever ever happened to me.
