Truly a spectacular observation (the second best I have ever seen). The sky was dark and clear being approximately an hour after sunset. The meteor appeared low in the east and disappeared in the west. The track was slightly north of my zenith. No fragmentation was seen at the end of the track.

Remarks
Meteor varied in brightness as it crossed the sky. Just before the meridian it brightened then dimmed, then brightened again before disappearing about 40 degrees above the western horizon. There was some slight fragmentation before the meridional dimming.
