| Remarks | On August 12, 2025, at 9:44 PM ADT, I observed a bright meteor/fireball from my backyard in Stratford, Prince Edward Island, Canada (coordinates: 46.20471° N, 63.09072° W). Trajectory: • Start: Azimuth ~150° (South-Southeast), elevation ~35° above the horizon. • End: Azimuth 0° (North), elevation 0° (on the horizon). • Apparent path was low across the sky, travelling SSE → N. Appearance & Duration: • Duration approximately 2–3 seconds. • Colour bright yellow, with visible fragmentation during flight. • Terminal flash observed at the end of the trajectory. Train & Fragmentation: • Persistent glowing train lasting ~3 seconds after the meteor disappeared. • Estimated train length ~5° (half a fist at arm’s length). • Train appeared bright and yellow, gradually fading; multiple small glowing fragments were observed detaching along the path. Notable Features: • Altitude appeared unusually low for a meteor. • The meteor was bright enough to cast a distinct glow and left a clear debris trail before fading. |
