Reports Report 5269e (Event 5269-2025)

Observer
Name Maurice G
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I was on my balcony, six stories high, facing west when I saw the meteor. It appeared at about a 45° angle and descended to about 15° before disappearing behind the treeline. The meteor was extremely bright, glowing blue, and much larger than any I’ve seen before. It lasted more than 5 seconds and only got brighter as it descended. I initially thought it might be fireworks, but it was clearly moving downward and in the opposite direction. I believe it may have struck the Earth west of the northwestern part of Philadelphia. I did not hear any sound, and I was alone during the sighting.

Remarks When I first saw the flash it was more of a huge light blue with a short white train. But as it traveled to the Earth it became brighter and a darker blue color. Then I lost sight as it went behind the treeline, so the flash could have lasted a few seconds beyond the 4-5 seconds that I saw it.
