| Remarks | The object was very slow moving as it descended, much slower than just about any meteor I've ever seen. I got the impression that it was moving away, toward the south, and that the apparent slow movement might actually have been due to a low trajectory as it was moving away from me. The object seemed to have a "tail" but that might have been an optical effect. Skies were perfectly clear in the area of the object. I would not be surprised if it was actually a satellite that had come out of orbit. Still, it was a remarkable sight. (I should note that there are some people on Twitter (X) reporting seeing what sounds like it might be the same thing I saw. They started posting tweets about it within 5 minutes after I saw it.) |
