Remarks |
I was driving, and did not take note of where I was, and where it took place. I tried to use Google maps and Street view to find it. However, the street view images are a year old and I can’t find the specific buildings that it happened around. I’m going to drive that same route and report it again (if that’s ok) if I got the location wrong. My angle and position from the highway was elevated, so I could see where it ended, and I kept an eye on that spot until I got close. I was looking for power lines or a tower because I thought it might be electrical (before learning that fireballs from outer space entering the earths atmosphere is an actual thing). But there were only street lights around it and there was nothing even remotely close to the height of which it started.
I thought I was seeing a massive shooting star at first, but it was in front of me, became brighter, looked mint green, and was going straight down... It’s switched to a flashing ball an expanded and contracted in size while also appearing to slow down. The color when it changed size was green and some white. The shade of green was a bit brighter than the top third (the mint colored “shooting star”).
I’m not remembering exactly what it was like from the time it switched from a big flashing ball to when I saw the flash ( I think I was processing what I was seeing and missed some details.). But for what it’s worth, my memory of it is that it expanded and contracted the rest of the way down, but became thinner just before the flash at the end.
I was able to see the flash very well because of the contrast from a tree line behind it. It happened very fast and it was bright, but it was also sort of small and anti-climatic, in my opinion, based on nothing other than me knowing it came from the actual outer space and was likely traveling pretty fast).
I hoped it was a meteor only so there was proof of what I saw. I’m still processing that this happened right in front of me, and that it came from outer space and fragmented (?) just before hitting the Earth… within a half mile of me. I’ve lost sleep over this… please excuse any typos. Also, I’m sorry for the novel, but I want to explain everything in detail in case it helps validate or invalidate what I think I saw.
NTTA or TXDot might have the footage. |
