Reports Report 9139u (Event 9139-2025)

Observer
Name Anna M
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks This meteor/fireball was seen directly above the Cheesecake Factory building at the Short Pump Town Center in Henrico VA at the general address provided. This was bright and distinct enough but also close enough for me to consider that the fireball would actually land on top of the building. I only chose to report this and deemed it of sufficient significance after viewing other videos where fireballs were seen to dissolve, and the videos closely resemble what I had seen. It appeared to be close enough to actually have an impact but burned up before making contact with a surface. It wasn’t very large but was distinct from a meteor that dissolves a good distance above the horizon and can appear to be outside of the earth’s atmosphere. I can be confident that this is one that had a closer proximity than any that I had seen before. I am interested in knowing if others had observed it. I spend enough time alone just gazing at the sky in admiration to notice these events when others may not. I have seen events like this-though the proximity was not as close-over the past year. I do believe that there is an escalation in these sightings.
