Given what I have seen previously, both in person and on science shows I am fairly certain that what I saw was a meteor which fragmented in front of me. I am a photographer and I work in low light a lot. This was very different to the kind of streaks I expect to see high up in the sky during something like the Perseids etc.

It was like a firework that had exploded and then the individual fragments fell at varying angles to the original one
