Reports Report 9271d (Event 9271-2025)

Observer
Name Amy H
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks I've never seen anything like this; it felt like it was so viscerally close, a fiery ball passing right over my head and then flaming out over L.I. Sound, as opposed to distant shooting stars that I've seen on rare occasion. There were a couple blinking airplanes above in the night sky (I'm across L.I. Sound from LaGuardia Airport), and they appeared tiny and far away compared to this. Re any sound: I had my headphones on listening to a book so not aware if there was possibly any distant background sound(s), though I would have easily heard any loud noises, which I didn't.

Remarks a bright fiery ball above me (it seemed looming and "close") across the sky for a couple seconds and then flamed out with a few fiery fragments sparking off.
