I have been a photographer for most of my life and have always been extremely passionate about all things space and weather. During an evening at the beach with my camera, I was climbing a large sand dune at the Indiana Dunes State park when this meteor occurred. There was a thin layer of clouds, which made the sky light up a brilliant blue. Even though I am always looking for meteors when the sky is clear, I initially was caught off guard by the sky lighting up and suspected that it was power flashes from a shorted line. I looked around in all directions for the source, before I realized that it was a fireball. It was only during the last few seconds of the event when I looked up about 60 degree to my south west and saw the last bits of it burning up, but was still able to determine what I believe a pretty accurate trajectory. I was there to capture pictures, and am still so disappointed that I wasn’t photographing the sky at that moment. I hope that this information is helpful.
