| Remarks | My family (8 of us) witnessed it when we turned off of Hwy 50 onto our county road 21, just past Rocky Ford. My 11 yo saw it first to the West and asked me what it was. It grew steadi!y brighter and closer in our field of vision, but was much slower than a shooting star. We observed the bright spot with a wide halo or glow around it for several minutes. As it got closer to us and past in front of our field of vision from the west to the South, it was evident it wasn't an airplane, or even a satellite because it was illuminating the sky immediately around it. The breakup was spectacular! It cast a crescent shaped glow in front of it. It reminded of a rocket shortly after launch! It was magnificent! We feel lucky to have witnessed it! We were literally in the right place at the right time with an unobstructed view. |

| Remarks | We saw it breakup into two pieces and left a large halo in front that was at least twice the size of the glow immediately around the center. The trail glowed and persisted for at least several minutes until it disappeared in the southern horizon behind clouds it did not reappear. When it first appeared we did not know what it was, but it steadily crossed the sky in front of is, growing brighter over more than a minute, until it broke up directly south in our field of vision. It was stunning! The ball.was brighter than a full.moon and had a bright glow radiating from the center. |
