Remarks I realize that perspective is difficult to estimate, but it seemed that this meteor was nearby. Its trajectory appeared that it would hit the ground in a few seconds, but clouds obscured the sight. I was listening for a sound but I didn't hear anything. (One time a meteor passed so near I heard a hissing sound.)

Remarks I had my back to it when it flashed. I turned around to watch it trailing sparks that looked like fireworks. the sight went in and out of thin clouds and then disappeared into thick clouds so I couldn't watch it any more. From flash to disappearance took only 10 to 12 seconds.
