As I was driving East on 23rd Street, about 8:45 PM,the sky suddenly became light green. To the right of me ( South) was small flicks of light which were getting brighter and faster. Something was very close and about to hit the building to the right of me. I looked around through my back passenger window and a bright round white light, about 35-40 feet in diameter was behind the building and had come from the sky. As I looked back forward stopping the car, I thought, was that a crater on the top right of the light? I didn't know what I was seeing and it was happening so fast (about 10-12 seconds total) I couldn't comprehend what what was happening. As I turned back around to the right what at first looked like a crater emerged from behind the store. From this point what I saw lasted 4-5 seconds. And it was about 150-200 feet from me. What emerged was a sphere about 18-20 ft. in diameter and over the next 4-5 seconds reduced in size to nothing. It was bright green and was transparent ( I couldn't figure if it was a gas or a liquid) but there were what appeared to be rocks suspended inside at different levels. The right outer side had what looked like a rocky ridge from the top to the bottom and the same on the right side but about 1/2 as many. All the rocks (inside and out) were changing from a dark bright blue to bright dark green to bright dark emerald every split second ( I'd guess Split second = 1/4 second) and the outer rocks had small flicks of fire on them. This thing was very hot for the rocks were melting and dripping off but never hitting the ground. This thing was about 10-12 ft.off the ground and turning slowly on a vertical axis. It went from 20 ft. in diameter to about 6 ft. in diameter in about 4 seconds and then became just a small ball of fire then turned black ( I could still see it even though it was black) then I heard a fizzle and then a poof and it was over. I know this is a lot to observe in 5 seconds but I am a retired builder so I know distances and about observing but this was so amazing I tried to see all I could. The one thing I wasn't sure on was it wasn't completely round for it had flat spots on it and I was looking at so much I didn't see what was causing the flat spots..Also it was spinning right to left but only made about 3/4 turn but the outer rocks were not spinning with the sphere, they were stationary but shifting slightly right to left.and like I said were melting and dripping like candle wax with fire at the end but never hitting the ground. The next morning I looked on the Internet and saw that a Fireball or Fireballs had erupted over the Southeast and from different sites figured that is what I saw. I read that you are lucky if you see one they are so rare and of all the sites I've been to looking for pictures of them I haven't found any anything near seeing one from 200 ft. If I can help, get in touch. Bye. |
