After sunset and with clouds. It made us jump as we thought it was lightning. Then we thought it was a strange flash from a perhaps nearby airport flood light. But it kept us talking as we drove on because it was unusual. Then we saw and heard reports of a possible meteor and thought maybe that is what we saw.
