Reports Report 1467bsg (Event 1467-2026)

Observer
Name Carsten M
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks On March 8, 2026, at approximately 18:45 CET, I observed a bright fireball over the Auersmacher field near Kleinblittersdorf, Saarland, Germany. The meteor was traveling from west toward northeast/east. The fireball was clearly visible for about 5 seconds. It appeared irregular in shape and somewhat unstable, not a smooth, spherical form. Its color was bright yellow with some orange tones. A small fragment separated from the main body during its flight. This fragment burned out quickly, leaving a brief, bright trail and forming a small, dense cloud. The fireball also produced a persistent white streak across the sky. The streak extended from the point of fragmentation and formed a small cloud-like formation in the atmosphere. The trail remained visible for several seconds or even minutes and appeared concentrated at the location where the fragment detached, rather than spreading out in multiple directions. No sound was detected during the observation. The apparent elevation of the fireball was approximately 60° above the horizon, and it disappeared behind a forested hill toward the northeast.
