Experience Level 1/5
Remarks I was sitting on our back screen porch talking to my sister on the phone at 10:08pm (time recorded on my phone when she called me) & we'd been talking for maybe 10-20 minutes when I saw a meteor come from the right side & go shooting across the night sky lasting for several seconds as it passed over the trees on the other side of our backyard fence. It came in fairly low so I got a good look at a flaming ball of light & it appeared to be only 100-200 feet off the ground with the trajectory at an 8 o'clock position. It disappeared over the trees in the direction of Hillcrest St & probably landed somewhere across Cemetery Rd, possibly in Drakesborough subdivision (very wooded lots) or next to it in Barrington Manor subdivision (more open lots). There are farms & woods all around here, so maybe nobody else saw it since it was later at night & possibly nobody has found where it landed yet. I stopped mid-convo with my sister when it happened to tell her about it because I'd never seen anything like it so close to earth. I've seen a few falling stars before, but they were so far up in outer space & they came down much faster. This flaming ball of light came in fairly slowly compared to the shooting stars I'd seen in the past.
