Reports Report 2685bb (Event 2685-2026)

Observer
Name Andy B
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I was opening the vertical blind a little at the front of the house, which I normally do before going to bed. I often look out of the window for a few seconds to see if there are any urban foxes and sure enough, one was walking up and down the road opposite and going into gardens. On looking up to see if any stars or planets could be seen, a brilliant light streaked across the sky in an easterly direction; the time was 00:23 hrs. Shock was my first reaction, as I'd never seen anything like this before. After realisng it wasn't some kind of pyrotechnic (or worse, a missile or crashing aircraft!), that just left a meteor. It seemed incredibly low in altitude; very hard to tell but I would say perhaps a couple of thousand feet. I saw a flash of green from the meteor itself and the tail was white with some orange and yellow. It was an experience I won't forget in a hurry; that's for sure.
