Reports Report 2790c (Event 2790-2026)

Observer
Name John H
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I was fishing in the Delaware from 18:40 - 22:15. While I later learned that the Lyrid meteor shower started tonight, this observation seemed to be brighter, somewhat slower, and a bit longer in duration (just over 2 seconds?) than a typical “shooting star.” I’ve seen decent meteor showers from dark locations such as Cadillac Mt. in Acadia, and this observation seemed pretty impressive. I did not observe any other meteors through 10:15 pm while on the river fishing in the dark, no lights/headlamp. I suppose it was part of the Lyrid event. But was an impressive, singular observation that seemed to have a very “downward” trajectory. And re: brightness, we are very near the Trenton airport. And while I’m not suggesting any confusion with an aircraft, I couldn’t help noticing that it was much brighter than - by comparison - any airplane lighting as they come and go from Trenton Airport only a few miles away.
