Remarks I knew this was a significant event, either aviation or astronomical. Was lucky enough to be facing very close to the direction it started and thought it was a more common type summer meteor, but it kept going and got brighter so may have lasted more than five seconds. (on my iphone 4 the compass read close to 10 degrees, was driving when it occurred and had to stop at light, so then I went back to spot to use it). the car was on a slight incline and since I was driving, my field of vision was limited and perhaps trees obstructed vision if the trail continued to be bright-but I thought I saw the end. I would consider it to have been brighter than the brightest full moon (at dusk or dawn) and did look shimmery white in brightest spots. (Definitely brighter than meteors seen while travelling along mass pike evening of August 11, 2013) Not sure about sound since I was in car and do not know how long of a delay there would have been. Did not know about this website so took me a while to figure out where to report what it was (when no news of plane crash).
