Initially red then as the light dulled I realised it was leaving a smoke trail behind it, then it was dark again. It all happened very, very quickly.

Observation
Yes
Remarks
There was an incredibly bright flash; I was driving along the highway and it was a though someone was highbeaming me from the sky, but it was so bright it illuminated everything very briefly.
Fragmentation
Observation
Yes
Remarks
There was a very bright flash and then it seemed like an explosion which I assumed was a meteor breaking apart as it came into the atmosphere, then there was a red glow dropping rapidly with a smoky trail behind it then it went dark again. This all happened in less than 3 seconds.
