Remarks *Date/Time: June 5, 2026, ~6:45–7:00 AM NZST (twilight/early morning). *Observer location: Flood banks near Beatrice Street, Avenal area, Invercargill, near the Waihopai River. *Observer movement: Biking, heading north to south (roughly facing south). *Meteor path: Heading 90–100° (eastward / east-southeast direction). Appeared in the southern sky, roughly mid-sky near Southern Cross height. *Duration: 2–3 seconds. *Brightness: Significantly brighter than Venus, approaching Moon-like intensity (visible despite twilight and streetlights). *Appearance: Started as a thick white streak → developed whitish-yellow tail with lagging “bubble”/puffing section (fragmentation) → white and black speckles/sparks visible in the flame/tail area → straightened out and faded. No sound or boom. *Angular size: Roughly 60–200 cm if measured with an outstretched ruler at arm’s length.
