Reports Report 4493m (Event 4493-2026)

Observer
Name Jacob C
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I was driving East bound at 50mph on 115 passing the church just starting to come down the hill looking North East when the greenish blue arc and flash of light occured. It was long enough for me to really process what happened but not so long that my position changed more than a couple hundred feet. If I held my hand out at arms length and put my pinky parallel to and on top of the ridge of the blue ridge mountains it was maybe a hand and a half or two hands above the ridge when it appeared moving in a southward direction, it was maybe 4 fingers above the ridge when it disappeared. It had the same apparent brightness as the parachute flares we deployed on the submarine and at the terminal flash was brighter than most commercially available fireworks and was physically 3 or 4 times the size of Polaris in the sky at it's largest. There was no sound, and no ground illumination. The sky was that slight overcast that puts a halo around the moon and there was an aircraft in the sky in the south east flying in a north western direction that had the same halo around it from the clouds and may have sighted the same object.
